About The House

THE HOUSE - DOWNSTAIRS

The ultimate in luxury, comfort and superior lifestyle, this prestigious double-storey residence has everything, and more, to offer someone wanting, and expecting, the best of everything.  The house was built some 12 years ago on land that was a sought-after, prime site when sales at the estate first commenced.  It is built on the rise above the beach, and has vast 180 degree views from Ballito to Umhlanga Rocks.

Three years ago, we undertook total renovations, gutting the interior of the house completely, and reconfiguring the footprint of the house from a U shape into a square, thus bringing in a vast amount of additional square metrage.  We changed the layout completely, and turned a slightly-dated Bali style house into a contemporary masterpiece.

All the ceilings throughout the house are suspended, with acres of downlights and other light fittings.  There are lights all over the garden and driveway areas, on the veranda and around the pool.

The house is built on three levels, in addition to the upstairs living and bedroom areas.  The entrance level consists of an open area with unobstructed views right out onto the ocean.  It is breath-taking to walk in through the main front door and be confronted with this amazing view right through the house looking out onto the ocean.

On this level is also the kitchen, scullery, study and guest bathroom.  The study has sliding doors leading to the outside area.

A central marble-like staircase takes you down into the next lower level.  On the left of this staircase is the main dining room, with a beautiful fitted bar area on the right.

The bottom level opens up into a magnificent living space which stretches across the entire width of the house.   On the left side, below the dining room, is a lounge with cladded fireplace for cosy nights during the mild winter months.  Centrally situated is an additional dining area, and on the right, below the bar, is a further lounge with built in television units.  Naturally this configuration can be changed to suit individual requirements and taste.

This whole expansive space opens up completely onto the under-cover veranda, with frameless glass doors folding back for wonderful entertaining and to bring in the sea breeze and beautiful summer weather.  It is an amazing free-flow space and unequalled in the estate.

The veranda itself also runs the width of the house, with steps leading down on both sides to the pool area.

The pool, also completely changed, is very user friendly, with champagne seats and different level steps walking down into the pool.  Fountains at the front make a beautiful backdrop flowing out into the ocean.

There are large areas on both sides of the pool with plenty of room for lounging chairs and umbrellas, and both sides have comfortable built-in seats for easy living.

THE HOUSE – UPSTAIRS

A beautiful stainless steel and glass staircase, double volume and with feature chandelier, leads up to the bedroom area.

Centrally situated is a comfortable atrium lounge with a skylight and which is the place of choice in winter, as it catches all the afternoon sun.

The main bedroom has loads of cupboard space and leads out onto the upstairs veranda.  The bathroom has a glass walk in shower (as do all the bathrooms) and the floor to ceiling windows allow you to soak in the bath (with champagne of course) whilst you look out onto the sea and lights from all the off shore ships.

The guest suite is a work of art and also leads out onto the veranda.  It has an open plan bathroom area with curved shower and private toilet.

The third bedroom has a private patio, sea view and stunning bathroom.

Bedroom four again leads out onto the veranda with an equally attractive bathroom.

ADDITIONAL SPACE

Beneath the stairs there is a good storage area.

Underneath the swimming pool are two storage areas.  The one contains the pool pumps and all the pool equipment.

The other side is for additional storage for any purpose.

The double garage has been built with extra space for storage if required.

There is a good sized bedroom and full bathroom for domestic accommodation.

EXTRAS

We installed a large 25 kVA automatic generator for times when there is no electricity for any reason.

There is also a 5000 litre water tank, fully automated which can switch from tank to general supply when required.

Most opening windows have been fitted with special invisible netting to let in the breeze whilst keeping out the occasional hungry monkey!

No expense was spared when renovating the house, and all materials and fittings were of the highest quality.
